Leaving for 5 days in Hyampom in just a couple minutes. I'm almost finished with the Color Blox Sox from 6 Sox KAL, and I'm going to start the August pair during the trip! I didn't get around to organizing the pictures from my trip, but I promise PROMISE I will when I get back!

Nevada, Utah, Wyoming, South Dakota, Montana, Idaho, and Back Home in California!!!

YESSSS I'm home! I've been gone for the past 3 weeks on my road trip that I've been raising money for. (And the previous week I was at camp.) I guess there's a lot I have to catch up to. I promise, now that my summer is pretty much relaxed now my blogging will be lots more frequent.

As soon as I get the chance, I'm going to put together a picture slideshow of my trip for all you guys. I had a BLAST. Gotta get a post in tonight though, or I might get kicked out of SP. (I'm really sorry Kerry, I realize that this is wayyy off the post-per-week rule.)

I gotta go to bed, so I'll finish this blog post later. =(

love katie

Secret Pal!!

So, I'm back from the Atlantic. It was really fun--the first time I've been in an ocean besides the frigid and foggy Pacific, and it was quite a different environment!! My sisters, cousins, grandparents and I boogie-boarded and bodysurfed all day.

I'm SO happy it's finally summer!

So back home, I've been busy spinning and dyeing yarn for the Etsy store, knitting and buying stuff for the SP, and getting ready for my summer trip!!! I'm really excited!

Speaking of SP, our wonderful, wonderful pal who lives overseas surprised us with this awesome package: with Lorna's Laces in Desert Flower (Emmy's absolute favorite colorway), size 1 Addi Turbos (something Emmy and I both wanted), and a really cool looking sock pattern. Thank you Secret Pal!!!!!

I think I'll knit the sock pattern after I finish the other Color Blox sock (from 6 Sox KAL) for the SP. No pictures of that--don't want to give myself away, ya know. It's a really fun pattern, especially with Knitpicks Simple Stripes.

And of course pictures of our beautiful Dye-O-Rama yarn from Thorny:

There's one skein missing--a really pretty dark reddish purple. Anna has it in a sock somewhere and couldn't find it =*(

Can you believe these GORGEOUS colors were gotten with Kool-Aid and Wilton's cake dyes? My Kool-Aid ventures haven't come out nearly so vibrant.

So, now I have to go think of my Amazing Lace entry. This one is supposed to be a poem about your teammate (the project). So many possibilities...

I'm back!

Yup, another trip at Hyampom. =D I was gone since Sunday, and just got back. I'm heading off for Raleigh tomorrow morning to see me grandparents and cousins, so gotta get everything in!

Well, here's my Amazing Lace X-TREME Lace Knitting Photo!
I have to say I had a lot of fun with this one! I took pictures of me and my lace outside during a thunderstorm and in an innertube in the Trinity River, but here's my favorite.

My friend Hayley and I on the 8th grade trip to Marine World a couple weeks ago! Fun day. (Look at my amazing progress...=P)

We also had an awesome surprise of--get this--3 skeins of gorgeous sock yarn from our Dye-O-Rama pal, Thorny!* How thoughtful--us three sisters were already bickering over who would get the skein before we got the package, or if we'd split it, or what. Thanks so much!

No idea if we'll have internet access, but I'll do my best to post!

*No pictures right now--I'm really sorry, Thorny, we are in love with it!!--unfortunately, all our stuff is packed for North Carolina, including the camera. =(

I brokee out the drop spindle at Hyampom and spun up some roving for our Etsy store.

Finally, I've started a Yahoo knitalong for my pattern, if anyone feels so inclined. =)

Good night everyone!

Amazing Lace--Challenge #1

Yes, I have entered. I'm really sorry I have been so lazy with blogging. Wednesday to Friday was a field trip and yesterday evening and this morning were at a friend's. So without further ado, my team intro:

Live from the Yay Area of California:

"As you can see, my teammate and I have already bonded. Quite a bit. I mean, how could we not? It--she--he--is 74% Suri alpaca, after all. And I've always gone for those South American types...

"We first met on May 20--coincidentally, my birthday--and immediately felt a connection. Too bad it will soon have some competition. As soon as I realized I was going to use it for the Spiral Petal Shawl, it hit me. I would have to get at least three more skeins. You got the Yarn Harlot and you got me--the Yarn Player. Well what can I say?"

"About the pattern--it's this gorgeous thing that I got about four years ago and made almost immediately. Thing is, with my mad nine-year-old knitting skills, many yarnovers turned up in the wrong places and--get this--I twisted every single knit stitch. I thought that's how you knitted (until I came across a pattern for twisted garter stitch and wondered why mine wasn't twisted). Well actually, every stitch, because there are no purl stitches in the pattern. (Cha-ching!) So I've had my eye on a redo ever since my personal knitting enlightenment."

"We hope to savor our relationship this summer, but you knowI think I just might have to rush it a little, in order to finish before my huge school trip (see profile). Oh wait...maybe I could bring it. Hey..."
